~4E8A∞~ is a four-part performance series by Johanna Ackva, Cécile Kobel and Judith Milz. The title describes an instruction for breathing: 4 inhales, 8 exhales.
Kathar(r)sis, the fourth and final chapter in the series, is a collaboration with the contemporary composer and organist Eva-Maria Houben, and a long exhale. At the end of the breathing exercise and the festival, the focus is on a timeless breathing organ - the organ of the Versöhnungskirche in Degerloch. The mechanical breathing technique of this organ - fed by so-called working air - becomes a player in the three performers' final exercise. In a contemplative atmosphere, voices and pipes, rattles and winds invite the audience to take a deep breath and reconcile with their own fragile and finite breathing apparatus.
