The work ~ 4E8A∞ ~ (pronounced four–E–eight–A infinity) consists of eight specially designed flags that create a connection between Stuttgart’s city center and the former spa district of Degerloch. Four performative interventions accompany the installation.
Taking the rhythm of a healthy breath — four counts in, eight counts out — as a starting point, a choreographed parcours unfolds through the city. Between pneumatics, smoke, dyspnea, and catharsis, breathing emerges as a physical, social, and political practice.
The work weaves together personal narratives and biographical experiences with historical research and the layered fabric of the urban environment.
Each chapter is accompanied by journal-like fragments, published in the form of a zine, which document and extend the unfolding of the project.
~ 4E8A∞ ~ invites audiences to experience breathing not merely as a vital function, but as a threshold between body, memory, and public life.
