The work ~ 4E8A∞ ~ (spoken “four E eight A and so on”) consists of eight flags conceived by Johanna Ackva, Cécile Kobel, and Judith Milz, connecting Stuttgart’s city center with the former health resort of Degerloch. The flags are accompanied by four performances. Based on the recommended breathing rhythm of four counts inhaling and eight counts exhaling, a choreographed parcours unfolds through the city of Stuttgart. Between pneumatics, smoke, dyspnea, and catharsis, breathing is explored as a physical, social, and political practice. The work weaves together personal narratives and biographical experiences with historical research and the layered fabric of the city. ~ 4E8A∞ ~ invites the audience to experience breath not merely as a vital function, but as an interface between body, memory, and the public sphere.
