Council of Neobiota – Air extension

The artist duo Eloïse Bonneviot and Anne de Boer present their work Council of Neobiota — Air extension in Stuttgart's municipal Lapidarium, inviting visitors to a playing experience, centered around a portable board game from the perspective of an invasive species. Inspired by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), players work together to explore how outsiders to environmental thinking can defend themselves against the destructive power of capitalism, destabilize it, and, in the best case, overcome it. The Air Extension developed for Stuttgart adds new game components, cards and characters that confront air quality and environmental pollution. Actions on the playing field, therefore not only take effect on the ground but also in the air.  

The game is designed as a piece of wearable clothing and can be experienced independently on the surrounding lawns of the Lapidarium. As a sculpture garden displaying objects from the past five centuries, the Lapidarium offers remarkable places to play.
