The day the clouds vanished

The day the clouds run away, is a video work by Sofia Dona created for CURRENT, which will be projected on the Mediaboard of the Hochbunker at Pragsattel. The piece refers to the historical use of fog machines to camouflage Allied air raids during the Second World, making visible the invisible traces of military and ecological violence. The video depicts chemical clouds over Stuttgart revealing the environmental catastrophes and damage to vegetation. The work provides an opportunity to reflect on contemporary warfare, of which environmental destruction, air pollution and food shortages are increasingly a part of. The elevated bunker, once part of the city's air defense system, becomes a projection screen for a critical reflection of remembrance. Against the world of advertising on the Mediaboard, the work opens up a quiet space for remembrance and critical reflection.
